About Tree of Life
To engage in the great causes of our generation is not an act of charity as much as it is righting a wrong in the world - a correction made that gives witness to the reality of what God promises in Revelation 22.2, “the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations." It is this Scripture from which Tree of Life takes its name and function.
Founded in 2004, Tree of Life has already been involved in places such as Russia and the Philippines and now is expanding its vision to have a presence on every inhabited continent on the planet for the purpose of touching lives and impacting nations. Poverty, hunger, clean water, homelessness, health care and slavery are just some of the issues facing the global landscape of the 21st Century and we believe God wants people to be actively involved in fighting these sources of oppression.
In Isaiah 63.5 God is speaking and says: “I was amazed to see that no one intervened to help the oppressed.” It is striking that God sees oppression going on in the world and then is shocked when no one does something about it. Our lack of engagement comes down to one of 2 things: awareness or apathy - people do not see the injustice going on in their world or they see but simply do nothing about it. God sees these injustices and He’s AMAZED that it doesn’t provoke someone to action.
Tree of Life helps bring awareness to these great causes and provides an avenue by which people can take action in the form of praying, giving or going. By orchestrating occasions for prayer and fasting, resourcing teams that are meeting direct needs and arranging mission trips for those who choose to go, Tree of Life is saying that if God is going to be amazed, let it be for a reason other than our lack of action on behalf of the oppressed.
